Pumpkin Pie Play Dough

22 Sep

If you’re anything like me, you love the smell of pumpkin pie or anything pumpkin flavored!

This is a fun recipe that will smell so good, it will make you want to eat it!!

 Here’s what you’ll need:

2 3/4 cups flour

1 cup salt

4 tsp of cream of tartar

6 T of oil

4 tsp of Pumpkin Pie Spice

2 cups of water

red and yellow food coloring (optional)

Oh and it can’t hurt to add the help of your toddler!

(Tip: If you have your toddler helping, having ingredients pre-measured so they

it’s less stressful. My child likes to go fast and it can get wild if I’m not prepared.)

In a large pot, combine all the ingredients. The color is already pumpkin colored because of the spice,

but you can add food coloring if you’d like. We did, but I don’t think we used enough to make a difference. So, if you add a lot it will look more orange.

Stir all the ingredients, then put on the stove over medium heat.

Stir, stir, & stir. After about 5 minutes of stirring, it will be smooth and look like brown sugar.

This means you’re good to go!

Dump the dough on a floured cutting board. Knead the dough until it is no longer sticky

and feels like play dough.

It will smell SO good. (And your hands will smell good!)

Then, use cookie cutters and kitchen tools to play with the play dough.

(My son decided to wake up at 6am because he was too excited to play!)

When finished, store in an air-tight container.
