Homemade Applesauce

22 Sep

Today we made homemade applesauce in the crockpot. It smelled SO delicious and tasted SO yummy! I will definitely be making this again. It’s also a fun activity to do with your toddler.

 Here are the ingredients:

4 apples (I used 3 Gala and 1 Honeycrisp)

Juice from 1 lemon

1/2 tsp cinnamon

1 tsp vanilla

1 T brown sugar

1/4 cup water

(recipe is from http://crockpot365.blogspot.com/2008/09/crockpot-applesauce-recipe.html)

1st step: Peel the apples. I peeled the apples and Troy cleaned up the scraps 🙂

Next, core the apples. I used a Pampered Chef corer.

Troy helped push the corer through. He thought it was pretty neat

to see the core come out and look/count all the seeds.

Cut the apples up. Then dump everything in a crockpot and cook on low for 6 hours.

Troy enjoyed dumping

everything in and checking to see if it was ready.

After six hours, mash it up with a fork and enjoy! It makes about 3 cups.

It was seriously SO delicious and made the house smell glorious!

Both kids ate a lot. Here’s Wes after eating. He was happy!

Lane said it tastes like warm apple pie and I would have to agree! YUM-O!
